Description
Unknown maker | Companion green vase available. This radiant Murano glass vase showcases the elegance of the sommerso technique, in which deeply colored glass is encased within layers of clear crystal to create luminous depth and fluid dimensionality. A rich amethyst core flows within layered contours of green, gold, and indigo, all captured in a freeform sculptural silhouette that appears to shift and glow with ambient light.
Like its green companion, this piece likely dates from the 1960s or 1970s, and while unsigned, it bears the stylistic hallmarks of noted Murano artisans. Its form and chromatic structure are consistent with works by Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d’Arte or possibly Mandruzzato, both of whom were celebrated for their innovation in modernist glass and color layering.
Elegant on its own or as part of a paired display, this vase embodies the technical mastery and visual poetry that define Murano’s golden era of glassmaking.
